Bartending Workshop Begins at IHM

A three-day workshop on the Basics of Bartending, under the Sikkim INSPIRES Project by the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, with an inaugural ceremony at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Sajong Rumtek.

Dr. Prerna Chamling, Administrator-cum-Additional Secretary, emphasized the workshop’s goal of promoting employment opportunities for women and youth.

Renowned mixologist, hospitality consultant, and entrepreneur Mr. Nischal Gurung led the first session, offering in-depth training on bartending and bar management to boost participants' skills and employability in the tourism sector.

The workshop includes two more days of intensive training, focusing on bar operations, mixology, and practical hospitality skills to introduce participants to diverse career paths in the hotel industry.

The event saw participation from IHM faculty members Mr. Sudhakar Sahoo and Mr. Sanjiv Kumar Pakhetra, along with homestay owners, female workforce members, students, and local youth.
